Ron and Jody and John Pucillo. John was Ron's 7th grade metal shop teacher and Jody was Ron's 7th grade general ed teacher and the woman who started him on his journey into the theater arts.

Ron Hutchins is a multi award winning director, choreographer, writer and teacher. A native of Cleveland Ohio he was one of three black students selected to be a part of the prestigious Cleveland Playhouse Youth Theatre Program on full scholarship. Ron trained at Wright State University in the Professional Actors Training Program and countless hours of training in various dance studios in Los Angeles and NYC, The Cleveland Ballet,The Dayton Ballet and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
His artistic home is South Florida where he has become one of the high profile director choreographers in the region. Highly respected for his vast knowledge of dance and movement, he is recognized for his innovative approach when choreographing musical theatre classics and his ability to work with every cast member regardless of experience and background knowledge.
Nowadays Ron is the resident choreographer and dance teacher at American Heritage School. Having developed an online musical theatre curriculum for musical theatre youth in China. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Miami, Columbia College School of Dance, Roosevelt University and SDC Guest Choreographer for Grease at Morehead State University and been the resident choreographer for student productions at Ft. Lauderdale Children’s Theatre, South Plantation High School, and Parkway Middle School of the Arts.
Just in the past few seasons, he has been involved with The South Florida Symphony’s premiere production of Porgy and Bess directed by Richard Jay Alexander, conducted by Maestra Sebrina Lynn Alfonso, The Actors Playhouse’s superb productions of Mamma Mia and Memphis and The Wick Theatre’s percussive tappers in 42nd Street.
But his work has been seen across the globe with Cirque Productions tour, Pop Goes The Rock and recent international credits that include the theatre’s in Beijing and Shanghai, China. Nationally, he worked at some of the nation’s finest regional theatre’s including, The Cleveland Playhouse, Georgia Shakespeare Festival, and Arkansas Repertory Theatre to name a few.
His mantle holds numerous awards including Three Carbonell Awards for Best Choreography, Three Silver Palm Awards for outstanding contribution to South Florida Theatre and a Midot Medal awarded by the JCC Maccabi Games in South Florida honoring individuals who go beyond what is expected.
